as racist and condescending as it gets

I think perhaps your liberal bias is showing. I didn't read this as racist at all. I live in Kentucky, the home of much white poverty.

I thought his goal was rather refreshing, in that I am tired of lines that always seem to be marketed to trust fund babies and other people with money to burn. Like J. Crew.

The thing that depressed me the most though is the part about shopping being a stress reliever. I've heard it described as a hobby too.

This plan represents the most common or average plan. None have ever been substantively better than this one. Not the full blown version plans. The business school version of business plans are just like this, no better. The good plans I get are shorter, much more informal. Those you can peruse in the forum. People post their own plans in If I were to produce a line. I like a lot of those. They're just not bank or lender official plans.

Just curious...does this plan represent the best you've reviewed or just the most recent? I'd be more interested to see a review of a well written and researched plan.

I'm confused. Trend setting, hard partying college students typically choose very different clothing than young professionals just entering the workforce.

I was laughing at the "eveningwear" line too. Who'd have ever thought we'd see a day when eveningwear cost less than jeans?

I assume in this plan, eveningwear means "little silky camisoles with skinny straps".

"Our goal is to target second-generation citizens of lower socio economic regions, who are increasing their level of education, preparing themselves to enter the workforce......" Yadda, yadda, yadda.

This entire paragraph makes me cringe! It smacks of Waspish elitism that borders on outright racism. Does this fellow see himself as the Great Manufacturing Bwana (or Jefe) bringing low-cost clothes to the unwashed masses? And do they also get a lesson in which fork to use?

And exactly what "environment" does he imagine his potential retail buyers have grown up in? Being poor does not equal being uncultured or uneducated and even those people who don't have to worry about getting behind on the rent like a bargain once in a while.

I don't get the point of all the palaver except that perhaps he believes more pages to the plan is impressive in and of itself.
Is it too naive to simply state what garments you intend to make, how much they'll cost, what the profit margin is, and where you hope to sell them? Okay, maybe a little more elaboration than that but, c'mon, describing your market as "citizens of lower socio-economic regions" (does he mean, perhaps, the Ukraine? That's a region. So is East L.A., I suppose.....) is about as racist and condescending as it gets!

Can we please tell this guy to get over himself?
