Kathleen...thanks for posting about the NY list. I had come across it last year and forgot about it...duh!

Anyway, an easy way to search is pick a borough (Manhattan, Brooklyn, etc.) and then select type CONTRACTOR. Put an amount in the Limit Search to ____ records (there's 300 contractors in Brooklyn). You should be able to get the whole list like I just did. HTH

Now to call them all...LOL!

With friendship,
Lisa

I finally heard back from the State of New York on my question of whether foreign entities (those not residing in the state but using NY contractors) needed a NY license, such as is required in CA. The answer is no. You only need a license in NY if you have offices there.

how many contractors did you have to go through to get a decent one? sooooooo hard. i'm getting the sales but ready to quit because of the thousands i have lost in manufacturing never mind the aggrevation and time. Going on to three years. Does it get easier?

This is really good information for people looking for a contractor. It took me about a year to find a decent one! Some of these resources are just not known to be available. Seems obvious now, but you really don't know what you don't know... What is the site for California listings? I think I had looked at it for a bit and it was hard to tell the differences between the contractors.
