Yesterday the Textile World came out on line and reported that the CPSIA or gov was asking feed back from industry on the new regs. You might want to look on line and send comments to them. www.TextileWorld.com dated March 31, 2009.

I just sent $15.00. I do not have a home business, as does Dawn of Two On Two Off for example, but I do appreciate that this has become crazy. Fabric manufacturers could easily test their product and label it accordingly making it much easier on home businesses. As long as we continue to manufacure less and less in the United States, the more we will be vulnurable to imported products that are toxic. A home business cannot assorb the cost of the testing and quality control necessary at the supply source. Almost a scam, isn't it?

So... what does the law say about selling things labeled as containing lead? Can you believe I actually found TOYS on the shelf with a label stating that they contained lead! Wooden painted blocks and wooden puzzles. Both toys for toddlers and little kids. Surely they present a much greater danger than fabric and thread.

Kathleen...
This post was EXACTLY what I needed. Even though I have no idea who will be watching my kids (Mr. Diva will have to figure that one out), I WILL BE HEARD IN DC TOMORROW!

I have thought of cancelling my flight, because I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. But then I think of what you and other CPSIA affected people have done to make our voices heard and I realize it is my obligation to be there.

I'm saddened not more children's apparel manufacturers are attending the Rally tomorrow. We are all pinching pennies, have children and other obligations. However, if we don't fight this, we will all be out of business next year.

I'm not going to sit here and be reactive. Instead, I chose to be proactive. I am an ambassador of Fashion-Incubator. Fashion-Incubator is the reason I was able to launch my business. Therefore, it is my responsibility to fight the poorly-written CPSIA which affects all FI children's manufacturers.

I am thankful Kathleen and others here have given me the tools I need to fight this. I'll report back throughtout the day if I can get internet access.

If anyone wants to meet up w/ me in DC, my cell phone number is 718-865-6752. Hope to see you there!

With friendship,
Lisa
