Today having a CAD is possible with little investment.
I recommend at a price cheaper than a set of professional rules.
DELTACAD, has all the commands needed to draw patterns and more and has nothing to do with AutoCAD.
Another recommendation is the best PATTERNSMITH with bezier curves, adding seams and notches.
Do not expect more.
Try and tell me.
Only if you insist much will recommend a small apligación for patterns using algorithms.

This is a great post for those interested and those (me) who just took a calculated leap, integrating Optitex PDS to my process. I would like to think I am quite tech savvy but no matter how tech savvy you are, remember to allocate enough time to learn the software and balance your work in progress. If possible choose a time frame or season that is slow for you so you can fully commit. I have also been doing patterns manually for a while, each adjustment/step was second nature and in PDS my second nature flew out the door. With that said; Thank you Kathleen for sharing your SOP, it's a necessity at least until your second nature tendencies return. I am becoming more efficient but expect to be inefficient to reach efficiency with PDS.

Thank you for this post. I am seriously considering getting a CAD system this year. I dream about it every time I am adding seam allowances or retracing patterns because of incorrections. I can't wait!

Sadly, my school just sent notice of closure. However I'm hoping to purchase their CAD program (Lectra) and equipment (digitizer and plotter) if they plan on liquidating any of it. The timing of your posts seem to run concurrently with my classes (prior to the awful news).

Don't think I can quite justify the cost of a CAD system this year, but this post makes me want to work even harder to reach that goal before much more time goes by.
