Though I’ve not been to Paris and have, like you, always dreamed of visiting, you do a lovely job of describing your experience. I wondor if you’ve seen the PBS documentary on Haute Couture (http://www.bbcprograms.com/pbs/catalog/Secret%20World%20of%20Haute%20Couture/hautecouturemain.html) an inside peek at “the club”? It’s truly inspired. Thank you for sharing.

hello deanna,
i am a parisian and to me even, it’s very interesting to look at how people clothe in the metro. it’s so true about the jersey “dresses” over pants that don’t look “hip hop”, and all the other things you’ve noticed. people i think want to look their best, wherever, no matter the circumstance; ie: no track shoes if they won’t have to race someone, etc.
not many colors these last few years, ten years ago you’d have seen more color. have you noticed how the woolen scarf is a must? u’d not catch a parisian dead without it. all of this is very natural, almost no make up at all, the max would be mascara.
