Sigh.

I actually quoted this post today, to 'But we need to teach skills', or similar. On an unrelated note, my personal belief is that advising someone to set in a sleeve with a one inch seam allowance is not teaching the student a skill; I see it as a form of torture.

This is really great info - just learning about blocks and their usefulness in creating a consistent fit within a line. Thank you Kathleen for sharing your wisdom. We are all the better for it!

An overwhelmed THANK YOU to you Kathleen!

The Universe has smiled on me today as I stumbled upon your blog. All the pattern info here will be tremendously helpfull in my building a good patterns base.

I'm starting again making collections after a bitter false start, where I fell into lots of traps beginner DEs can fall into. One of them was me, completely overwhelmed with my pattern base, so much so I want to throw the whole thing in the trash... I cannot find what I need sometimes, and that shouldn't be, of course.

I'll start fresh. Yes, throwing stuff out, but keeping what worked... using a great PN number so it's never lost again.

i love that series, i have it printed out and taped into my sketchbook. kathleen you are amazing. i love that you are showing us DEs how to do it in real life, as we NEVER learned anything close to the info you provide in school. i love my blocks, and using the system you outlined here on your website (and in your book) on pns and style #s. thank you thank you thank you

Cannot believe I got this in my e-mail box, as I have only just been speaking to Hanni about this in the Studio (our invaluable member of the team who is learning pattern-cutting)! I have printed off for her to read....although I am not sure if terminology is different in the UK??

Any comments?
