Pool
What
Pool is a relatively new tradeshow, started in 2000. The focus is on providing a wholesale venue (juried) for independent designers of youth oriented fashion lines but also includes mens and womens apparel, shoes, books, home furnishings, art and music.
When and where
The upcoming show is at the Javits Center (NY) on July 17th-19th. The show following will be held in Las Vegas at Madalay Bay on August 28th-30th. Pool has also started a web service called Pool Shop. Although the site is still in beta, buyers and vendors will be able to connect at Pool Shop. There's not much up yet other than a couple of Goat and Woat lines -it figures- but keep an eye on it if it's a match for you.
Who
Pool was started by Ronda Walker who left the company on July 3rd (see the related news story from Apparel News). The new director will be Mindy Wiener. Pool was bought out by Advanstar Communications for 3 million dollars. Advanstar is the parent company of such shows as MAGIC Marketplace and Project Global Trade Show.
How
If you think you'd be interested in showing at Pool, their website has more information. As ever, it is critical that you attend a given tradeshow before you make arrangements to show in it.
