Here is the spark that began this whole thing. Bobby Rush was the Illinois Congressman who initiated the CPSIA I believe for a good purpose but one has to wonder if it was even thought through for 10 minutes.

Here's a good powerpoint presentation that you can point newbies to to get them up to speed quickly:

You have to get past the self-promotion at the beginning.

I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere but it made my heart glad to find this PDF at the Toy Association (dot org) website today. Petition for Rulemaking under CPSIA Section 101. I read the thing through and I like it. A lot. I'm sure there are problems with it and I'd love to have them pointed out.

The HTA petition for an exemption for "small" manufacturers has earned a rant on my blog. Not a well-thought out rant, like a clear thinker might give, just a rant. That's all I'm capable of at the moment, I guess.

I just wanted you to take a look at a French web-site and see how they have a page on the CPSIA towards US:
http://www.deuxpardeux.com/en/cpsia.htm
I guess that's how they will present their lab-tests; giving the link for the clients to check.
Any comments?

Here is an article on Gymboree's losses, and blaming part of it on the CPSIA. Maybe more recignizable named companies will start releasing information on what this insane initiative is doing to everyone:

Gymboree is forced to; they're a publicly traded company.

So much for "Hitha's" Fox News story in which she asserted that the major players in the market (and gymboree by name) were immune from cpsia and had been in compliance for well over two years.

Well, who can rely on FOX news?
It's destroying more than informing with their superficial and short-angled news covering.
The first comment I saw about the law was through them (linked on the net) and I was quite amazed about their lack of knowledge.

I've been waiting for some really big names to speak up about the CPSIA issue. But so far everyone is being really hush hush about it. "Don't tell the customers why we're pulling certain children's clothing, toys and other products off the shelves. Don't tell the customers why we don't have children's products in stock and/or why we don't intend to carry them anymore. People might think we were selling toxic products."

I'm really looking to the manufacturers, the parents and the officials in the area of BMX bike racing to raise a stink with their congressmen and maybe even start a lawsuit.

But to be quite honest, their only defense might be that congress didn't give them enough time to meet the requirements. Bicycles and motorcycles definitely contain lead. The lead is probably something can be replaced (at a higher price for the item.) And bikes and cycles are regulated by the lead laws of the European Union and other countries, so there is precedence.
