Sorry about the "test only", cannot edit it...
Anyway, I have an interesting problem: I can answer to an existing thread but when I create one, the post content is empty. If I answer to such a thread, the answer is empty too. I am trying to create a thread under Operations/Sales and Marketing.
I was able to post my intro in the past. Any ideas? _________________ Robert |

I know what you're talking about. It has happened to me before but only very rarely, once or twice. I have no idea what the problem or solution is.
If it helps, this is what I did, I responded to the thread again (below the empty post) and it went through. You can do that, I'll stumble upon the empty post and will delete it. In short, try again. thanks! _________________ Please don't PM me, use the email button instead. |

Found it. The problem appears when I add an active URL in the post text. I was able to post normally after removing it. Sorry for the empty posts. _________________ Robert |

Just a note - I may be mistaken but it seems that the F-I forum runs on a pretty old version of phpBB (copyright 2005). Updating it would probably fix the issue (and others too). _________________ Robert |

This version has been superseded by 3.0. There are some issues with upgrading it, rolling it into my site template. Namely, my web guy isn't 100% on it and I haven't had time to do it. I should get back with him to see if he's caught up with version 3.
Robert: I was actually coming here to mention something I forgot. Can you do me a big favor and deliberately post a message that will be blank? I can look at it from the admin screen for troubleshooting. thanks. _________________ Please don't PM me, use the email button instead. |

Amazing! Here it works with an URL in the text.
I'll try to open a thread in this section with an URL, just a copy of my original message, and see how it goes. _________________ Robert |

Thanks Robert, I think I have it figured out. Btw, I deleted the new thread you started and am responding here so we can keep the topic tied together. Pertinent section from your post is below:
Code: |
I am a single-person DE sewing military gear & clothes, selling through word-of-mouth and promoting my wares on my blog (www.tigertailor.com). |
It appears to be a formatting issue. If you want the url to display as clickable text, the coding should be:
Code: |
()www.tigertailor.com |
The parenthesis make this a bit confusing (for illustration purposes) so I will remove those in this example and instead, hyperlink "my blog"
Code: |
selling through word-of-mouth and promoting my wares on my blog |
The changes are an "=" sign, bracket placement and "http://". Not that http etc is always needed (because most browsers figure it out) but if I'm having trouble with something, I just try to clean up the code to eliminate possibilities.
There is more on how to format your posts here. _________________ Please don't PM me, use the email button instead. |
